Recently, the editor of iAbrasive made an interview with  Xie Guo, the General Manager of S.A.D.S Industrial Co,. Ltd. The following is the conversation between them. 

Reporter: S.A.D.S makes its fortune by Dongsheng Sand Cloth and engaged in manufacturing flap discs at the beginning. Do you ever stepped into this industry before?

Xie Guo: I never set foot in this industry before. Before I switched into abrasives industry, I was devoted to shoe manufacturing and worked in Taiwan-funded enterprise. For producing flap discs, I started from scratch. At that time, there were over twenty industries for me to choosing. Taking every factor into consideration, I was determined to manufacturing flap discs. At initial stage, we met so much difficulty. We must find adhesives all by ourselves. However, what we found was refused by our customers. In the course of selling, our clients and friends gave us practical suggestions on how to improve our product quality. Gradually, we are on the way. 

Reporter: How much does S.A.D.S invest in research and development? Are all your products developed and produced independently? 

Xie Guo: Each year, we invest several millions in research and development. There are about forty or fifty members in our team, and some are doctors or even post doctors. All our scientific achievements are created on our own. 

Reporter: there are some 1000 flap discs manufacturers in China, and what is your core competitiveness? 

Xie Guo: Our core competences are business integrity and continuously exceeding anticipation of customers. 

Reporter: Nowadays, almost every enterprise said high performance price ratio and brand image are their advantages over other abrasive manufacturers. While, I feel statement is meaningless. Therefore, specifically, what does distinguish S.A.D.S from other abrasives manufacturers

Xie Guo: In my opinion, it is rapid peace of innovation and research and development ability that make our distinctive. For example, we always have new products appearing on the market. 

Reporter: what is the difference or advantages of S.A.D.S flap discs over other flap discs? 

Xie Guo: Actually, there are no big difference between our flap discs and other flap discs. Our core competitiveness mainly lies in the whole services, such as brand awareness and service consciousness. What you have said finally will be examined by the market. In flap discs field, S.A.D.S is always a front runner. 

Reporter: Judging from your official websites, S.A.D.S has three branch companies, how do they collaborate with each other?

Xie Guo: In fact, all these three companies are served for flap discs. We have three branch companies, namely Dongguan Kingdom Sand Cloth Co., Ltd, Sichuan Santai Gurui Enterprise Co., Ltd and Mian Yang Zhongyan Abrasive Co., Ltd. Our adhesives, backing pad and abrasive cloth serve for our automatic flap disc machine, and automatic flap disc machines are prepared for manufacturing flap discs. 

Reporter: Could you please introduce sales of S.A.D.S at home and broad?

Xie Guo: In our sales, overseas market contributed 30%, while the domestic market is accounted for 70%. After the financial crisis in 2008, 2009, the sale in 2010 was extraordinarily good. 

Reporter: For a long time, abrasives industry is considered as "high energy consumption and high pollution". So, in the perspective of reducing energy consumption and protect environment, what actions does S.A.D.S take?

Xie Guo: S.A.D.S has been advocating environment protection from its establishment. For example, most abrasives manufacturers choose pure solvent fiber glass packing pad, while S.A.D.S makes use of environment friendly ones. As an abrasive cloth manufacturer, waster water is inevitable. Now I am satisfied with our waste water treatment. 

Reporter: Almost every enterprise will meet some problems in products, did S.A.D.S ever meet problems in product and how did you address those problems?

Xie Guo: S.A.D.S will give responds as soon as possible no matter there is problem in products or in the process of using our products. If permitted, we will go to the site to assist our customers to analyze and solve problems. We have 24 hours hotline to provide solutions for our clients. Our team is obliged to provide the best service for our customers. 

Reporter: Does S.A.D.S plan to be listed?

Xie Guo: We are waiting for a good chance.
