Ten years ago, it was the beginning for the rapid development of coated abrasives. At that time, Zhengzhou KINGSHARK faced the tough choice in the second undertaking. In the Cologne Hardware Show in Germany, Zhang Hao accidently found that non-woven pads and rolls were quite popular in foreign countries, and there was a gap in the domestic market. Consequently, he decided to explore in the non-woven abrasives field instead of investing in coated abrasives production line. During ten years, starting from designing and developing device, and exploring process, he leads his team paving their way. However, when their "Power Shark" was accepted in overseas market and won good reputation, KINGSHARK Abrasives abandoned their production line manufacturing by themselves decisively and audaciously. They were determined to introduce new foreign production line. 

Interviewer: What did push you to make such decisions? At that time, plenty of abrasives manufacturers prepared to launch non-woven abrasives.

General Zhang: Indeed, there were lots of manufacturers engaged in non-woven abrasives then. But in market economy, it is normal phenomenon that for certain field, someone enters and others drop out. In the final analysis, the more enterprises participate, the bigger strength they will bring. Now in the domestic market, the consumption of non-woven keeps increasing every year. The non-woven could replace some flexible polishing productions and be applied in many fields. While, in foreign market non-woven abrasives are much more popular, and that is supposed to be the trend in our country. It takes KINGSHARK Abrasives two years to make decision on introducing advanced equipment. On one hand, we have gained rich experience in research and development, and have had good command of some high-end technology, such as stripping disc. However, because of some flaws in our device, we have difficult in mass market, which impacts on our development; on the other hand, many domestic enterprises have entered non-woven field, thus disordered vicious competition is inevitable. It is the advanced equipment that distinguished us from other manufacturers. 

Interviewer: After buying advanced production line, do you plan to reposition target and change strategy?

General Zhang: At present, the domestic market develops rapidly for non-woven pads and rolls, but about 90 percent market is monopolized by 3M. Our products haven't had a big impact on them so far, but we have confidence. After introducing advanced equipment, we will reposition our products. If the cost performance of low-end products is proper, we will continue produce. Otherwise, we have to give up low-end market and focus on high-end market. Generally speaking, take advantage of new equipment will completely solve problems caused by stability and consistency, and KINGSHARK will make big progress.
