Growing Abrasive Giant: Jiangsu Fengmang

Recently iAbrasive had an interview with Wang Rongsheng, the president of Jiangsu Fengmang Compound Material Science & Tech Group Co., Ltd. According to Wang, Jiangsu Fengmang is established in 2010 under market economy. It has four subsidiaries, among which Zhengjiang Fengmang Abrasives Co., Ltd. and Yangzhong Jiangann Sand Cloth Co., Ltd. are the backbone enterprises and high and new tech enterprises in Jiangsu province. Fengmang Group total asset is 2.25 hundred million Yuan. Last year its sales revenue was 5.34 hundred million Yuan, profit tax was 79,280,000 Yuan.

At the end of last century, Jiangsu Fengmang was a township enterprise close to bankrupt faced with economic reform. The total asset at that time was not more than 2,700,000 Yuan and the factory only covered 6,250㎡. The company only had a sand paper production line and a sand cloth production line. Process technology was out dated and the company has little competitive force due to high costs. In 2002, Zhenjiang Fengmang Abrasives Co., Ltd. was founded as a joint venture. Wang Rong was nominated the legal person. Capital was injected and the company had hope. The board of directors decided to absorb human resource as the fundamental thing and targeted at science and technology innovation and attached great importance to product quality and scientific management.

First of all, Rongsheng formulated human resource plan. The company spent large amount of money in inviting Korean coated abrasives specialist as technical director, and domestic senior specialist as technical consultant. The company established a R & D center with outstanding college graduates and formulated a series of plans. In the second year, the results were obvious. Two potential products were developed and launched into the market and received customer recognition. In the third year, the company's new product sales revenue took up 80% of the whole. In a few years, the company had achieved tremendous success and became the backbone enterprises in coated abrasives industry.

Human resources have brought abundant scientific results. In 2003 Fengmang developed "ring abrasive belt" and "circular grinding disc", which received good market feedback. In 2004 and 2005, Fengmang developed "super soft cloth"  which was specially designed for the unsmooth metal surface and ordinary abrasives that were difficult to be polished. With the development of new material science and mechanical industry, coated abrasive products are widely used in aerospace, automobile, machine tool, construction, metallurgy, etc. Especially sand belt grinding, the company has formed a complete system.

Now it has more than 180 acres, including standard factory, modern office building, over 860 employees, eight production lines. Its annual capacity reaches 20,000,000㎡. Group total asset is 2.25 hundred million Yuan. The company is able to produce based on various market demand. Its products sell well both in China and abroad.
