As a rising star in traditional industry, in the past two or three decades, stone industry has developed rapidly. In the prosperous economic background, the living condition is continuously improved. So far, the application of stones has become much wider. Besides abroad used in public infrastructure, stone has been a choice for interior decoration. However, as time goes by, the stone will be affected by some problems, such as pollution and aging. In this case, it is essential to maintain through polishing. In the following, several common grinding tools are discussed in the article.

1.Magnesite honing stone

Magnesite honing stone is the polymerization of silicon carbide, magnesium oxide and magnesium chloride. When choosing silicon carbide, green silicon carbide is relatively better, while black silicon carbide is cheaper. The gain size of silicon carbide arranges from 16# to 1200#, and the hardness of honing stone is correspondingly from hard to soft. The magnesite honing stone is common abrasive product, and the main features are low cost, good self-sharpening and strong processing adaptability. Magnesite honing stone can be used to process granite, marble, artificial stone and ceramic tiles, etc, but the processing efficiency is relatively low and the production cycle is comparatively long. Once storing over one year, magnesite honing stones'properties would be changed, such self-sharpening and hardness.

2.Silicon carbide resin honing stone

Silicon carbide resin honing stone composed of silicon carbide and resin material, and is mainly grouped into two. One is pressed with phenolic resin, and the other is made by means of casting after silicon carbide mixing with liquid resin. The repression honing stone is featured with good durability and excellent invasion. During grinding, especially grinding marble, the efficiency is high, but the cost is high as well. The fine grits have broad application. It is easy to coloring when making use of phenolic type honing stone to grinding light-colored stone, which also limited their application. The honing stone made from fine silicon carbide powder and resin material is widely used to grinding granite, terrazzo and concrete.

3.Ceramic sharpening stone

Ceramic sharpening stone is composed of silicon carbide and glassy through high temperature sintering. It's characterized by durability, but it is prone to clogging and grinding slip. Moreover, the cost is high. Attributed to those features, it is used relatively less now.

4.Metal bond grinding disc

Metal bond grinding disc is made from diamond and metal powder through sintering. Its traits mainly lie in high efficiency and good effect. Generally, the grain size of metal bond grinding disc begins with 50#. It should be cautious when choosing metal bond grinding disc, or it will be quite hard to process after occurring coarse scratches.

5.Resin bonded disc

Resin bonded disc combines monocrystal diamond, diamond powder and resin. Its peculiarities are lower cost than metal bond grinding disc and high working efficiency. It is widely used in the fine grinding of stones, which mostly is a continuation after using metal bond grinding disc.

6.Diamond flexible discs

Lately, a new type tool, diamond flexible disc has been used in the renovation of the ground. Its lightweight and unique flexibility make it fit with floor better. The available grain size is between 20# and 3000#. Taking advantage of diamond as abrasive grains makes it possible to protect the soft parts of stone surface. At the same time, the use of Velcro threading gluing makes it more convenient. In the field of stone grinding, the diamond flexible discs have a promising future.
