Safety, of course, is a condition that has to be taken into account. Compared with grinding wheels available at a discount, high-quality grinding wheels have a better holding force on abrasive grains, which decreases the inhaler dust, particles, and waste materials that are cast on the workpieces. Grinding wheels of high-quality can also extend the service life and decrease the costs. Sometimes cheap grinding wheels may cause potential safety hazards even if right procedures to use them are adopted. As a result, grinding wheels of poor quality are risky.

The advantages of high-quality grinding wheels are longer service life, higher metal material removal rate and so on. The higher the quality is, the better the performance will be, which will contribute to higher working efficiency. Usually there are two criteria for testing the service life and the working efficiency of grinding wheels: grinding rate test and cutting efficiency test. The two standards are used to test respectively the service life and the metal removal rate of grinding wheels. Compared with labor costs, the price of grinding wheels does not seem that important. However, if customers want to save costs, they may choose inexpensive or cheap grinding wheels with poor quality. Driven by price advantages, the intrinsic disadvantages of cheap grinding wheels do not matter, which signifies decline in production efficiency and increase in the entire costs.

In North America, all the grinding wheel manufacturers and distributors are required to reach the lowest standard ANSI B7.1. Some manufacturers will perform stricter European standard EN12413. High standard production generates high-quality products and brings customers more comfortable product user experience. In addition, high-quality grinding wheels can avoid the vibration caused by imbalance. In fact, the comfort level of grinding wheels is often ignored, which are seen when the operator has to press on the grinding wheel to reach a larger metal removal rate, or fail to control the grinding wheel at a proper force. All these problems can be avoided by choosing high-quality grinding wheels.
