Market Prices and Analysis of Silicon Carbide in April 2017

In April, the silicon carbide market adjusted its market quotes upward in Ningxia. At present, the prevailing prices of 98 black silicon carbide block materials are around 5700-5800 Yuan/Ton; 97 black silicon carbide block materials around 5600-5700 Yuan/Ton; 90 black silicon carbide block materials around 4000-4100 Yuan/Ton, with 200-300 Yuan/Ton price increase compared with that in March; The prices including tax of silicon carbide deoxidizer (SiC≥75%, Particle size: 0-10mm) are around 2800-3100 Yuan/Ton, with 300-400 Yuan/Ton price increase compared with that in March.

The price increase of silicon carbide in April is mainly because great price increase of anthracite. It is learned that the price of anthracite used for smelting silicon carbide was 560 Yuan/Ton in May last year, but now it needs 1310 Yuan/Ton or so. At present, the operating rate of silicon carbide manufacturers is relatively low, and some manufacturers still depend on previous inventory, and even there is a small part of manufacturers turn to produce graphitization carburant and other products.

With the beginning of the second quarter, the downstream market demand is increased, and the overall inventory of silicon carbide is slightly nervous. It is expected that the silicon carbide market will remain the tension continuously in the short term in Ningxia.
