It is reported that in the future, the main development direction of superhard materials includes five aspects: single-crystal synthesis, single-crystal sorting, surface coating, polycrystalline manufacturing and film growth. Today, we will simply introduce the following five aspects.
A. Single-crystal synthesis: The single-crystal synthesis needs to use different raw materials, and different high temperature and high pressure synthesis equipment and technology, to synthesize different single-crystal products.
B. Single-crystal sorting: The synthetic single-crystal products can be sorted and divided into different single-crystal types according to the particle shape, particle size, bulk density, impurity content, strength, toughness, heat resistance and other performance index.
C. Surface coating: Different varieties of single crystals after sorting can make use of chemical plating, electroplating, vacuum plating and other surface coating.
D. Polycrystalline manufacturing: Using diamond single crystal powder or graphite powder, appropriate metal powder, nonmetal powder and other raw materials, to manufacture polycrystalline with different shapes, specifications, performance and applications, in accordance with the appropriate formula and the corresponding technological process (high pressure high temperature sintering, or direct growth method).
E. Film growth: Using different vapor deposition methods under the condition of low pressure, to produce diamond film or diamond-like film with special performance and large size.
