Eight Points That Need Attention in Grinding Process of Green Sic

Green silicon carbide is widely used in hard alloy processing, glass, and non-ferrous metal materials. It can also be applied in semiconductor materials, high-temperature silicon carbide rod heating unit, and far infrared source base material, etc.

1. Balance: Grinding wheel imbalance is mainly caused by the inaccuracy of the grinding wheel manufacturing and installation, which may lead to the shifted center of gravity of the grinding wheel and the rotating shaft misalignment.

2. The harm of imbalance can be reflected in two aspects. On the one hand, when the grinding wheel is rotating at a high speed, it will cause vibration, which may result in polygon marks on the workpiece's surface. On the other hand, the imbalance has accelerated the vibration of the principal axis and the abrasion of the bearings. What's worse, it may lead to a crack in the grinding wheel and accidents.

3. If a grinding wheel's diameter is longer than 200mm, it should be balanced first; after a grinding wheel becomes imbalanced during work, rebalancing should be done. The matching issue means the installation of the chuck and the grinding wheel matching.

4. According to standard requirements, the diameter of the grinding wheel's chuck is not allowed to be shorter than one third of the installed office building's diameter. In addition, a relevant requirement says that when the grinding wheel abrasion reaches 10mm longer than the chuck diameter, the grinding wheel should be replaced.

5. Thus the matching problem occurs between the chuck and the grinding wheel. Otherwise, the following situation will appear: equipment and material waste or accidents.

6. When installing a grinding wheel, firstly we have to conduct an overall inspection for its safe quality. Use a hammer to tap the grinding wheel's profile, if the sound is ringing, the grinding wheel is safe. In a positioning problem, grinder installation should be taken into account. We should select the reasonable and suitable situation.

7. The grinding wheel cannot be installed among people; it is forbidden. Usually a bigger workshop will leave room for a specialized grinding wheel room.

8. If no specialized grinding wheel space is available, we can put a protective gear plate higher than 1.8m.
