How to Improve Mechanical Strength of Diamond Grinding Wheel

In order to enhance the heat resistance and mechanical strength of phenolic resin bond of diamond grinding wheel, we try to achieve the purpose by joining all kinds of packing of phenolic resin in the process of the preparation of resin abrasive.

For example, adding copper powder can improve the heat resistance of resin; Adding some materials such as zinc oxide and chromium oxide can improve the mechanical strength of resin; Adding the flaky graphite, molybdenum disulfide and other soft materials, have very good improvement effect in improving the grinding performances of resin bond grinding wheels. But the most effective methods for improving the performance of phenolic resin is adding organic material modifier, whose reason may be that organic material is more matching with phenolic resin in the physical structure and surface properties, etc, compared to inorganic chemicals.

Polyimide resin is one of the best heat resistance resin, and using polyimide resin as binder preparation of diamond grinding wheel first appeared in the United States, and then spread throughout the world. Its biggest characteristic is grinding wheel with good thermal stability, which can be used under 250 ℃  for a long time. Its durability is higher than phenolic resin bonded grinding wheel, which is often used in load and grinding of superhard abrasives grinding wheel.

Epoxy resin has good resistance to water and strong cohesive force but its heat resistance is low, which is usually mixed with phenolic resin and polyimide resin in the process of preparing grinding tool, and can improve the bond strength of resin binder without reducing the material based on the heat resistance. The heat resistance of urethane resin is also low, which is generally applicable to light grinding because of its larger abrasive strength.
