Smelted in over 2250℃ high temperature, Alumina is a high-quality abrasive as raw material. Second to diamond in hardness, corundum has good self-sharpening and strong grinding force and is mainly applied in advanced bearing grinding, precision machinery and the main materials for laser emission. There are three kinds of corundum abrasives in the market.

The main component of brown fused alumina abrasives is AL2O3; it is moderate in hardness, great hardness, sharp particles and inexpensive price make it suitable for high flexible process. Microcrystalline alumina and black corundum abrasives are derived from it. The next is white fused alumina, whose hardness is slight above brown fused alumina, is poor in toughness. It is easy to cut into the workpiece, good self-sharpening and excellent grinding strength with little heat. The third type is silicon carbide abrasives, including black silicon carbide, green silicon carbide, cubic silicon carbide, cerium silicon carbide, etc. the main component is Sic, its thermal conductivity is high and grinding performance is good, thus it is suitable for hard brittle metal and non-metal products process.
