There is certain influence between grinding parameter and surface roughness. Today we will discuss it from the following four aspects.

Firstly, the higher the speed of grinding wheel, the more the abrasive grains per unit time through the grinding surface, so the smaller the surface roughness value on the surface of workpieces. At the same time, if the speed of grinding wheel is quite high, it is possible to make the propagation speed of surface metal plastic deformation greater than the cutting speed. Then it is too late to make deformation for workpiece materials, which will make the plastic deformation of metals on the surface layer decreased, and the roughness value of grinding surface will be also reduced.

Secondly, the influence of the speed of workpieces on surface roughness is just the opposite with that of grinding wheel. When you increase the speed of workpieces, the abrasive grains per unit time through the grinding surface will be decreased, so the surface roughness value will be increased.

Thirdly, if the longitudinal feed of grinding wheel is reduced, every part of the surface of workpieces will be grinded repeatedly, and the roughness value of grinding surface will be decreased.

Fourthly, if the grinding depth is increased, the plastic deformation will be increased on the surface layer, and the roughness value of grinding surface will be also increased.
