Low Temperature Sintering Alumina Ceramic Technology

Alumina ceramic has many advantages, including high mechanical strength, high hardness, low high frequency dielectric loss, etc., and because of its wide raw material sources, relatively cheap prices, and mature processing technology, it is widely used in electronics, electrical appliances, machinery, textile, aerospace and other fields, and also established its high position in the field of ceramic materials. It is reported that alumina ceramic as oxide ceramic material is widely in the world.

Alumina ceramic is a kind of ceramic material composed of Al2O3 as main raw materials and corundum (alpha - Al2O3) as main crystal phase. The melting point of alumina reaches as high as 2050 ℃, which makes the sintering temperature of alumina ceramic generally high, and alumina ceramic manufacturing has to use high temperature heating element or high quality fuel and high-grade refractory materials as kiln and kiln furniture. It restricts the production and a wider range of applications to a certain extent.

Therefore, to reduce the sintering temperature of alumina ceramic and energy consumption, shorten the firing cycle, and decrease the loss of kiln and kiln furniture, thus reducing the production cost, has been the concern of enterprises and important subject needed to resolve.

At present, the technology of low temperature sintering of alumina ceramics has made remarkable achievements. Though alumina ceramics technology has achieved good economic benefits, but now some products still have a great appreciation of space that can be researched.
