In 1960, Theodore Harold "Ted" Maiman, an American Engineer and physicist, was credited with the invention of the first working laser. In 1965, the first production laser cutting machine was used to drill holes in diamond dies. This machine was made by the Western Electric Engineering Research Center. In 1967, the British pioneered laser-assisted oxygen jet cutting for metals. In the early 1970s, this technology was put into production to cut titanium for aerospace applications. At the same time CO2 lasers were adapted to cut non-metals, such as textiles, because, at the time, CO2 lasers were not powerful enough to overcome the thermal conductivity of metals.

With the development of science and technology, demand for laser technology became huge. The application of laser technology is widely used. New laser processing techniques are emerging. In terms of internationally practical application, laser processing equipments mainly include laser cutting machines, laser welding machines, etc. in terms of China’s domestic laser processing technology and application, an increasing number of users have recognized the unique advantages and properties of laser processing. So far, laser technology has been widely spread in aerospace fields, automobile industry, switch industry, gear industry, engine manufacturing industry, metal processing industry, etc.

Application of Laser Cutting Machine

Laser cutting is the most frequently used processing technique in many fields abroad. For example, automobile industry and machine tool manufacturing industry adopt laser cutting in components and parts processing. With continuous improvement in high-power laser beams quality, laser cutting machines are used in almost all metal and non-metallic materials.
