Superhard Industry Products Statistics and Imports and Exports Situation in 2014

On May 6, 2015, China machine tool industry association chapter five secondary standing director of superhard materials conference was held in Qingdao, Shandong. Li Zhihong, senior advisor in Superhard Materials Association of China, gave the report in the conference "Superhard Industry Products Statistics and Imports and Exports Situation in 2014”.

It is said in the report that the national macro-economy enters the new normal, which slows down growth, increases efficiency, strengthens transformation and upgrading, and introduces new policy to regulate the market. Especially the regulation of real estate makes multiple industrial sectors feel the pain, whose development is affected by the huge pressure. Superhard material industry is interfered greatly under the national situation and it has changed the past strong momentum of development but the pressure is unprecedented. So it develops in the medium speed as well as the national macro-economic, whose nominal growth even lowers than that of GDP. Large enterprises income decreases, and declines in profit margins; Small and medium-sized enterprises market and profit space are squeezed. It is difficult to keep running, even cut back or suspend production. But the fast and good enterprises in transformation constantly emerges and their new products are in great amount and gratifying situation.

It is pointed out in the report that the main products of the superhard materials and products industry in our country maintains stable growth and the market competition is intense and the profit margins declines. But imports and exports market is active, especially the export growth, providing a good space for industrial development.

It is also pointed out that China produced the diamond 16.8 billion carats in 2014, the growth rate of 11.3%. The average unit price of diamond was 0.28 RMB/carat, dropping 3.4%; CBN production reached 570 million carats, the growth rate of 29.5%, whose average unit price rose 5.9%, that is 0.72 RMB per carat.

The goods is divided into four categories in the report: diamond, diamond grinding wheel, diamond circular saw blade and superhard material tool. Diamond saw blade, accounting for nearly half of the total amount, is the first big export commodity in the superhard materials and products industry in China. Because the different goods has different export tax rebates, enterprises apply to the customs according to the higher export tax rebates of goods as far as possible. The similar products have different item number in customs of all localities. Diamond saw blades sometimes export under the other tools, so it is possible that the actual export sales has more than half of the total.

In conclusion, it is also pointed out: (1) The superhard materials monocrystals production is growing, but it still slightly lowers than the nominal growth of GDP. In recent years, with the development of precision machining, CBN obtains the rapid development and the market demand is very positive. But because its overall volume is too small, it will have little contribution to the industry development. Macro-economy is not powerful and the real estate situation doesn't take a turn for the better, so it is hard to rise from the bottom for Chinese superhard materials and products industry. (2) Although industry products export situation is good, the high in low out situation shows no big change, the unit price: diamond saw blade 2.6, diamond 2.8, grinding wheel 19.4, cutting tool 20. It still has a long way to go in transformation and upgrading! (3) The industry development prospects are bright, but now it lacks the support! The foundation of the development is to strengthen the research and continuous innovation! Market research and different development way is the blessing of small and medium-sized enterprises! Some advanced special products is the key to be improved!(4) The superhard materials and products industry in China have a large number of outstanding scientific and technological personnel, and there are large and perfect industrial foundation. We will achieve the great goal of superhard material power firstly as long as we make unremitting efforts!
