Saint-Gobain Says its Been Hit by Global Cyber Attack

According to Saint-Gobain, it was hit by a cyber attack earlier Tuesday morning.

In a statement to NEWS10 ABC, Saint-Gobain says it isolated its information technology systems to protect its data.

“We are continuing to investigate and are working diligently to provide a resolution as soon as possible.”

The Associated Press reports that the cyber attack caused mass disruptions across Europe, hitting Ukraine especially hard.

The spokesperson couldn’t confirm whether any local plants were affected by the cyber attack. Saint-Gobain- a world leader of abrasives manufacturing, is based in France and North American operations in Pennsylvania.

Saint-Gobain to Increase its Flat Glass Production Capabilities in Mexico

Saint-Gobain has announced it is building a new flat glass (float) production line in Saltillo in Mexico. This plant, scheduled to come on stream at the beginning of 2020, will manufacture glass for the automotive and construction sectors. It will meet the growing domestic demand and supply of Central America, the Caribbean and North America.

This investment was made to reinforce the company’s position in automotive glass in Mexico. It will complement its manufacturing base in the region with the Cuautla site already including two floats.

This new float line project in Mexico marks a new step in the Group’s expansion strategy into high-growth countries.
