According to iAbrasive latest news, Allegro in Massachusetts, America has launched a new generation silicon carbide diode--FMCA series, which enables high-speed switch function unser lower leakage current and high temperature. The technology is developed by Allegro and produced by Sanken electric company in Japan. The product is mainly applied in industry and computer high-end equipment field, including server and high frequency rectifying circuit.

FMCA series adopts new generation power semiconductor silicon carbide and 650V to break voltage and make it adapt to continuous current mode PFC circuit. The designed structure has decreased energy loss caused by diode reverse recovery current substantially. Meanwhile, diode high-speed switch function and energy-saving feature make it possible for equipment to become smaller.

Since Sic-SBD recovery loss and Sic-MOSFET high-speed switch resistance are low, and thermal runaway is at lowest, which made FMCA diode have advantages like compact and highly effective current supply, and can realize stable switch function under high temperature. Currently the new silicon carbide diode is packaged in TO-220 size.
