Diamond Reserves Account for Half of the Country Proved in Linyi of Shandong

According to Diamond Prospecting Symposium held on December 8 and 9 in Shandong province, the Linyi city has proven reserves of 12.3539 million carats of diamonds since we found the first diamond primary ore with commercial value in Linyi of Shandong province in 1965, which accounts for about 50% of the total national proved quantity.

Diamonds are scarce minerals and important strategic resources in our country. In 1957, the predecessor of the Seventh Geology&Mineral Resources Exploration Institute in Shandong province-Yishu Geological Team was set up. After eight years of exploration, we found the first kimberlite dike " Red Flag No. 1 dike” in Linyi city on August 24, 1965, which ends the history of no diamond primary ore in our country.

Since then, they have explored and evaluated the two large mining areas successively, submitted more than 1000 carats diamond reserves, and formed the first diamond original mineral base in our country. On this basis, the first large diamond primary ore mine was built in 1970 in our country. In recent years, they new found Victory No.I – 1 concealed rock tube, which increases 1.056 million carat diamond resources; In the four longholes in west valley kimberlitic pipes, people all can see kimberlite body, and now people have obtained eight diamonds there. It is estimated that diamond resources in this region can be reach 2 million carats, which will achieve a new breakthrough in diamond prospecting.

Linyi city in Shandong province has been identified as one of five big diamond mineral prospective study areas in our country. In 2014, Linyi city was named "Land of Diamond in China".
