The Production Status of Natural Diamond in the World

According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 20 countries around the world in the production of natural diamond, whose reserves are about 2.1 billion carats, and speculative reserves of about 3 billion carats. They are mainly concentrated in following five countries: South Africa, the former Soviet Union, Australia, Congo and Botswana.

In recent years, the annual output of five major producers accounts for 86% to 86% of the world's annual production. But in Botswana, South Africa, and the former Soviet Union, their gem grade natural diamond account for about 20% ~ 25%, semiprecious stones about 40% ~ 50%, with high output; The output of Australia and Congo is large, but gem grade natural diamond accounts for only around 5%, and semiprecious stones about 30% ~ 40%, so the output value is not big.

It is generally believed that the single particle more than one carat is big diamond, and more than 100 carats of diamonds are extra large diamonds, which are rare. And the biggest " Cullinan " weighs 3106 carats, which was found in South Africa in 1905. It is one of the world's largest diamonds.

According to a large number of data collecting, there are about 2000 diamonds now known to the world more than 100 carats, and about 300 diamonds more than 200 carats, about 30 diamonds more than 500 carats, and about 12 diamonds more than 700 carats.

We have small diamond reserves, and there are 17 diamond mining areas that have certain scale throughout the country, and the reserves of about 20 million carats. They are mainly distributed in Liaoning, Shandong, and Hunan. And the mineral reserves account for 98% of the total, and there is also a small amount of placers.

China's largest gem grade diamond is called "golden pheasant", named from Jinjiling in Shandong. The diamond is yellow, glittering and translucent, which weighs 281.25 carats. In 1937, it was seen by the a  villager in Shandong, and later, being looted by the Japanese invaders, is still missing.

China's another gem grade diamond was found by a farmer on December 21, 1977, in Shandong Linshu, and named "Chang Lin diamond", which weighs 158.786 carats, and whose crystal shape is cube and four hexahedral rectangle, pale yellow, glittering and translucent, and beautiful. Now it is collected in State Bank.
