The Abrasives Industry to be Positioned as Key Industry of the Machine Tool Industry

According to relevant news, China Machine Tool & Tool Builders’ Association has released the Five-year Development Program of the Machine Tools Industry, stating that the abrasives industry is positioned as a key industry. The plan gave credit for the development of the abrasives industry and superhard materials in the past decade, and identified positively that since 2009, China has become the largest consumer and exporter in the world, with the total output of synthetic diamond accounting for more than 90% of the global.

In terms of key products and technology, the abrasives industry and superhard materials have made efforts in further processing products, high-end abrasives products for assorted numerical control machines, such as heavy-duty grinding wheels, precision abrasives products, and new low-temperature bonding agents), coated abrasives (synthetic diamond, CBN, heavy-duty abrasive belts, etc); high-end diamond saw blades, nano diamond products, and diamond tools. All these products have been used in the development of new energy, IT, high-end manufacturing, and aerospace industry, which is in accordance with the concept of green manufacturing of the machine tools industry.

At the same time, the plan put forward the idea of innovation in techniques, energy saving and emission reduction, and waste recycling. Low carbon and environmental superhard materials and products needs to be developed. The Five-year Development Program of the Machine Tools Industry will bring more opportunities and challenges to the abrasives industry.
