Garnet sand and other sandblasting abrasives are the consumables of sandblasting process, and just like the oil used in the cars, though it does not have too high cost at a time, it must be used. So although it is low value product, because of the large demand, it still has great impact on the cost of sandblasting.

Therefore, how can we save abrasives in the usual sandblasting work? We can start from the following six factors. The six factors what we mean are: The separator, dust collector, abrasive recovery units, spray gun, sand tubes, and the pressure. Let's have detailed analysis one by one.

A, The separator
The separator is the most important part of saving abrasives. There are two kinds of separators. One is a kind of pneumatic separation method, and the other is a kind of mechanical separation method. Generally speaking, ordinary sandblasting machines tend to use the method of pneumatic separation. Before choosing sandblasting machines and confirming the best process, the accurate type and particle size of abrasives should make manufacturers informed, so that the design of sandblasting machine can be more precise to control. A closed air valve at the bottom of the separator should be adjusted in good position before using.

B, Dust collector
The air volume of dust collector directly leads to the wastage of abrasives. Before using sandblasting machine, please adjust the ventilation door in the best position and lock it. Internal filter and used sand in the dust collector need to cleaned on time.

C, Abrasive recovery units
Abrasive recovery units have two types: pneumatic recycling and mechanical recycling. If sandblasting machines abrasive use non-metallic,  the pneumatic recycling is recommended. If it is metal abrasive, you can use both of them. Because if non-metallic uses the method of mechanical recycling, abrasives are easy to become broken, causing the waste. Garnet sand is a kind of non-metallic abrasive, so when using it for sandblasting and derusting, you’d better use the method of pneumatic recycling.

D, Spray gun
The influence of spray gun is mainly due to its wear and tear. If spray gun is badly worn, it can cause large consumption of sand, so in the use of spray gun, nozzle, sand nozzle, gas nozzle, gun body and other parts should be inspected regularly. Once the wear is found, it needs to change the new parts immediately.

E, Sand tube
As to the factor, there are a lot of people that don't agree or don't pay attention to. In fact, the direction of sand tube completely controls the direction of abrasives, so the bending of sand tube will affect the point of view that abrasives are sprayed to the workpiece surface. We know that one of the factors influencing the blasting effect is the point of view. Therefore, sand tube is an important factor, and in order to avoid the losses, we must reduce the bending of sand tube.

F, The pressure
The degree of the pressure directly results in the speed of efficiency and also directly affects the wastage of abrasive. If we want to make it fastest and smallest losses under the best pressure, we should know the accurate data, which needs to look at the requirements of the user products and materials, such as aluminum material, oxidation pretreatment, the best pressure about 4 kg.

Of course, this is just a theory and some practice summary, which not necessarily is suitable for all industries or sandblasting machines, because different industries have different requirements for sandblasting.
