Sapphire to Push Electronics Field Consumption

Once "abandoned" by iPhone6,  sapphire is now used on Apple Watch, which brings new opportunities for sapphire industry. Apple Watch has helped sapphire succeed in pushing the development of the electronics field consumption substantially.

Sapphire was first used in luxury goods and rare wrist watches, while synthetic sapphire is widely used in industrial fields, including LED industry and consumer electronics. Traditional sapphire industry includes diaphragm market and LED sapphire substrate market. The latter accounts for over 70% of market demand. 

Since Apple used sapphire in lens cap, and iPhone 5s used sapphire in "home" key, sapphire has bonded a relationship with technology electric products. in 2013, GTAT signed a supply agreement of sapphire with Apple. But neither iPhone6 nor iPhone6 Plus used sapphire screen, which resulted in bankruptcy of GTAT. During the period, many sapphire companies suffered from great loss and some even went bankrupt.

Influenced by Apple Watch, the sapphire industry chain begins recover. Currently, Huawei and Wellograph have launched smart watches with sapphire screen. While with manufacturers' increasing demand for sapphire, the entire industry is developing at a favorable tendency. The failure of GTAT is not an end to sapphire industry, but is beneficial for the industry and investors find the correct way. For China's domestic sapphire industry, the market is huge.
