According to Rockwell Diamonds Inc. first quarter report for the fiscal year 2017, diamond production at the Remhoogte mine is stabilizing, reports IDEX Online.

Rockwell’s diamond production levels increased by 32% from the first quarter of fiscal 2016, with carats increasing from 599,000 to 791,000, notes IDEX Online. This increase rise was largely driven by substantially higher diamond production levels at Remhoogte.

The miner recovered over 30 diamonds weighing 20 carats or more, including a 96 carat diamond, a 90 carat diamond and a third diamond weighing some 60 carats.

“Productivity has been enhanced on our operations with the result of improved diamond recoveries and diamond values. Our performance in the first quarter of fiscal 2017 is reflecting the effects of the improvements that we have been implementing following the strategic interventions of late financial year 2016,” explains Rockwell Chief Executive Officer and president James Campbell.
