Market Prices of Domestic Alumina Remain Firm in May

Supported by aluminum ingot prices, the market prices of domestic alumina remain firm in May. The prevailing prices of domestic industrial alumina (grit size: 80-120 mesh; Al2O3≥98.6%) are as follows: The factory prices including tax of industrial alumina in Henan are around 2050-2300 yuan/ton, while industrial alumina in Shandong about 2100-2200 yuan/ton.

According to relevant data statistics, at present, the national total output of alumina is about 70.98 million tons. By now, domestic alumina will increase the supply, and imported alumina has declined since April. Therefore, we expect that alumina prices will remain firm in recent times, and  some big enterprises may increase their prices slightly.

In the aspects of operation: Shanxi Huaxing Aluminum and Jinzhong Chemical plan to launch their products in early June; Shandong Weiqiao’s new alumina plant in Indonesia will also launch their products this week; Shandong Lubei Chemical has gone back to a line of 400000 tons of full capacity.

Calcined α-alumina market sales remain stable in May. It is learned that the indicators are as follows: 325 mesh, Al2O3≥99% and conversion rate≥95%. The factory price including tax of calcined α-alumina powder in Henan is around 3300-3600 yuan/ton, and in Shandong, it is about 3200-3500 yuan/ton.

Recently, alumina buyer market is cooling, and as we have learned that large-scale alumina enterprises have relatively small inventory quantity, and the prices still remain firm; And small and medium-sized  alumina enterprises are eager for shipment.

As a whole, domestic industrial alumina and α-alumina market temporarily maintain the status quo. It is expected that the price won't appear too big fluctuations next month.
