China's National Development & Reform Commission issued a notice that says seven New Materials Manufacturing Bases will be set up, Luoyang included.

Representatives from Luoyang Development & Reform Commission say that after being enlisted on China's New Materials Manufacturing Base, Luoyang will usher in a new opportunity for its high-tech industry. At present, Luoyang is a renowned technological innovation city and an important New Materials Technology Center in China. Luoyang will take this opportunity to build up the largest New Materials Manufacturing Base in the middle and west part of China.

Luoyang is rich in mineral resources, such as aluminum, gold, silver, tungsten, etc. The large stock of mineral resources lay a solid foundation for the development of the new materials industry. In recent years, Luoyang's new material industry has witnessed a fast growth, with the sales revenue reaching 7,900,000,000 Yuan last year.

Luoyang municipal government plans to focus on five major new materials industry, namely, crystalline silicon semiconductor materials industry, solar optoelectronic industry, functional materials, such as new refractory materials industry, electronic glass substrate industry, new chemical engineering industry and superhard materials and products industry. There have emerged numerous excellent enterprises in each of the industries mentioned above, one that is popular in the refractory materials industry being Yichuan County Shengyu Fireproof Material Co., Ltd.

The construction of New Materials Manufacturing Base can help Luoyang improve industry technology innovation, expand industry chains, increase products' added value, and facilitate industry agglomeration.
