Linyi Honored as China Diamond City

Lately, China Mining Industry Association has issued a notice that Linyi has been named as "China Diamond City". It is known that diamond resource reserves of Linyi ranks first in China and has a long developing history. At the same time, mining heritage of Linyi is rich. 

From 1950s to 1960s, Linyi had begun to explore diamond deposit in Yancheng County. In August of 1965, Red Flap 1 Kimberly dike was founded in Mengyin Country, and it was the first primary deposit with industrial value in China.

Up to now, 14 diamond exploration rights have been set in the whole city, and the exploration area has reached nearly 1000 square kilometers. There are two primary diamond mines and four diamond placers. The reserving diamond resource amounts to 9690.3 thousand carat, and total identified reserves reaches 12353.9 carat, which is accounting for about 50% of the national total identified amount. 

In recent years, Linyi attaches great importance to the development of mining economy, and considers that as a strong support and the greatest potential to promote economic development. Therefore, mining economy has been put the most significant position in leading industries. Linyi has planned to make full use of and foster diamond culture, promote the rational development and utilization of diamond to fulfill the goal that balancing the development of resource exploration, heritage protection and tourism industry development. The honor of "China Diamond City" has added new connation to and brought new opportunity to mining economy in Linyi.
