Introduction and Characteristics of Buffing Compound

Polishing materials are commonly used for the surface polishing and deburring of metal, glass, stainless steel, hardware, jade material, etc. For example, tin oxide, alumina, kaolin, diatomite and other powder mixture are used for glass, and can be used with polishing compound.

The most commonly used polishing material is buffing compound, also called polishing wax or polishing paste. Buffing compound generally can be divided into: solid polishing wax and liquid polishing wax.

The main ingredients of polishing wax: stearic acid, palmitic acid, oleic acid, rosin, and grinding compound, such as feldspar powder, chrome oxide, alumina, iron oxide red, etc., they can be made into different fineness and variety in accordance with the requirements of different matrix composition. In general, different colors represent different varieties of polishing wax, to avoid confusion when using. High levels of abrasive can accelerate the polishing process. This process can help the material get smooth by the surface movement of polishing wax and polishing wheel.

Polishing wax has excellent thermal stability and low volatility that can greatly improve the surface luster. It has inside lubrication and outside lubrication both in the polar and nonpolar plastic. What’s more, it has demoulding effect and mobility.

There are four commonly used polishing wax:

First, the green polishing wax: it is composed of fatty acids and chrome oxide green, etc, used for polishing stainless steel and chromium.

Second, the white polishing wax: it is made of lime and stearic acid, fatty acid, fat, butter, etc. for polishing nickel, copper, aluminum, and bakelite.

Three, the red polishing wax: it is made of fatty acid, white wax, and iron oxide red, etc, used for polishing metal plating and polishing gold, silver light echo, etc. The main polishing machines are vibration polishing machine and traditional manual polishing machine.

Fourth, the yellow polishing wax: it is made of feldspar powder, fatty acid, rosin, yellow lead, lime and so on, used for polishing copper, iron, aluminum, bakelite, etc.
