Inner Mongolia Seeks to Extract Aluminum Oxide Abrasive

To develop a circular economy, Inner Mongolia will conduct conservation-oriented development in a high alumina carbon resource by Central Layout Coal Ash to Extract Aluminum Oxide Project.

China is poor in bauxite resource and has a high degree of dependence on foreign countries. In western China--Inner Mongolia high alumina coal field and high alumina coal ash powder have a prominent strategic value. Aluminum oxide content in the Zhungeer coal field is around 10% to 13%, and the coal ash powder contains more than 40% to 51% aluminum oxide abrasive.

Inner Mongolia encourages power plants, high alumina coal enterprises, and coal ash extract aluminum oxide abrasive companies to recombine and develop integrated business systems, facilitates high alumina demonstration projects production line construction, and drives high alumina development, power plants, concrete enterprises, etc., to build a circular economic industrial park centered on extracting aluminum oxide abrasive from coal ash powder.

According to preliminary estimates, Inner Mongolia Zungeer produces 120,000,000 tons of high alumina coal, which can produce 30,000,000 tons of high alumina coal ash powder that can extract more than 12,000,000 tons of aluminum oxide abrasive, equal to about 25, 000,000 tons of bauxite. That comparable to China’s bauxite import volume in 2010.
