The 115th China import and export commodities fair, also called Canton fair, took place on April 15, 2014 in Guangzhou. Attending the fair as an editor, I, on behalf of iAbrasive, felt proud to have this opportunity to feel the charm of this trade show for the first time, which has long been considered as the most  comprehensive trade event with the longest history, the highest level, the largest scale and the best credibility in China. 

During the visits, I got that the fair was scheduled to be held in three phrases from April 15th through May 5th, each lasting for five days. The first phrase concentrates on the exhibition of electronic & electrical appliances, lighting, auto parts, machinery, hardwares, building materials, chemical products, etc. Trading companies take a big proportion of the exhibitors from abrasives industry, which scatter in the no.14 and no.15 pavilion, C#.

The fair still attracts large attentions of overseas buyers, who mainly come from developing countries in West and Southeast Asia. However, most of the foreign purchasers hold a wait-and-see attitude, and they will shop around carefully before placing an order, which means that most exhibitors receive less orders on the exhibition compared with last several years.

What Is the New Outlet for Abrasives Foreign Trade?

For a long time, attending exhibitions has been regarded as the best channel for companies to meet with new buyers and obtain orders, therefore, large efforts and money will be paid on the preparation of the fair, hoping to return fully loaded. However, with the rapid development and spread of internet technology, the way people obtain information increases and B2B trading platform is gain its momentum, which indicates that online marketing without boundary limitations will be an inevitable trend and will to some extend cut the effects of exhibition. Since e-commerce has become an inevitable trend, why not adapt to this trend and make efforts on the network marketing?

Brand Awareness Is waking up!

Building up enterprises’ own brands has always been a hot topic. In the exhibition, I have also noticed that several abrasives companies stamp their identity on the displayed products, so as to improve brand’s visibility, enhance corporate image and make preparation for the brand promotion in the global market.

To summarize in a word, exhibition is losing its momentum. Abrasives engagers should open up new channels for its foreign trade business.
