iAbrasive: Statistics on the Import and Export of Chinese Diamond & Diamond Products in 2013

On April 23rd, 2014, the 4th China Super-hard Materials Conference has been held successfully in Yunan, a province being called “the south of the cloud”. The secretary of the China Super-hard Material Association has made a report named the Statistics on the Import & Export of Diamond and Diamond Products in 2013. According to the data showed in the report, China’s total production of diamond in 2013 ups to 15.1 billion karats with an annual growth rate at 7.9% and CBN production reaches 430 million karates at a yearly growth rate at 13.2%. In general, the growth of diamond production slows down, while CBN production has seen an obvious growth.

The report also points out two critical problems existed in the development of China super-hard materials and products, that is, price war and weak demands from global market. To solve these two big problems, Chinese abrasives manufacturers should shift their philosophy of management and make more efforts on the improvement of quality. We should set a higher production criterion and target on the high-end market.
