Graphene 3D Lab was begun to develop materials and technology for turning the superhard material graphene into a sort of 'super material' for additive manufacturing.

Launched in 2013, within a year the company developed a 3D printed battery, conductive graphene 3D printing filament, attracted major investors, and then went public. Now Graphene 3D Lab Inc. Board Chairman Jason Martin says the the company's executive leadership structure will welcome Ian Klassen. A Company Director, Klassen will be appointed President and Chief Operating Officer while Elena Polyakova will immediately take a position as Co-Chief Executive Officer alongside Daniel Stolyarov.

"Since the launch of our conductive filament in March this year, the Company has seen strong sales demand and interest from several manufacturing partners to work with us on future polymer projects outside of the 3D printing industry. We have bolstered the management team to ensure our founders have the support they need to maximize future opportunities for Graphene 3D," Martin says of the changes.

Klassen has 25 years of experience in public company management, public relations and government affairs. His extensive experience in public company administration, finance, government and legislative policy, media relationship strategies and project management came about as part of his many years leading North American mineral exploration companies, and he sits on the Board of Directors of both private and public companies.

Klassen also held a number of positions in federal Canadian politics. He served as Senior Political Advisor to the Minister of State for Transportation and was the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Speaker of the Canadian House of Commons.

Following his graduation with an undergraduate Honors Degree from the University of Western Ontario, Klassen also received the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada.

"It has been a year of significant accomplishments for our Company which include: filing a patent for the world's first 3D printed graphene battery; launching the sale of conductive filaments; and establishing and expanding our filament production facilities," Martin says. "We have several other projects in our development pipeline."

The appointment of Polyakova is part of the strategy the company has to further monitize graphene technologies and materials as well.

"Our company is rapidly moving from principally an R&D focus to creating a variety of revenue models. We have established a revenue channel with our functional 3D filaments, now we are expanding our revenue opportunities as a leading graphene manufacturer," says Co-Chief Executive Officer Polyakova. "The recent acquisition of Graphene Labs, will allow our work with advanced material polymers to expand into markets beyond the 3D printing sector. We look forward to Ian joining our management team to work with us in bringing these new revenue opportunities to fruition."

In other news, the company says, should regulatory approval and shareholder approved stock option plans come through, Klassen will purchase up to 200,000 common shares on or before August 24, 2020 at a price of $0.69 per share as part of his incentive stock option plan.
