After six months have elapsed from the 2013 calendar year, official figures reveal that Dubai saw a significant increase in the rough diamond trade during that time period, Diamond World report. Both imports and exports of rough diamonds to and from Dubai increased between January and June 2013.

In 2013 H1, 32.4 million carats of rough stones were imported to Dubai. At an average price of $77.16 per carat, the total value of those stones was $2.5 million, a 7% year-over-year increase.

During the same time period, 34 million carats of rough stones were exported from Dubai, a 12% increase. In exchange for these exports, $3.7 billion was paid, a 3% increase. The per-carat average price of rough diamonds exported from Dubai during 2013 H1 was $108.82, a decrease of 8% year-over-year.

Calculating both imports and exports together, the volume of Dubai's rough diamond trade during this period rose 11% to 66.4 million carats and was worth $6.2 billion, 5% more than 2012 H1, according to Diamond World.
