The International Institute of Diamond Grading & Research (IIDGR), which is part of the De Beers group of companies, announced that it will launch its latest synthetic diamond detection equipment at the upcoming Hong Kong jewellery show, Gem Konnect reports.

The new system, called PhosView, is a screening device designed to allow parcels of polished stones to be quickly and accurately analysed to determine if they contain potential High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) synthetics. The PhosView will screen stones in the 0.003 cara to 1-carat size range.

The machine, which is priced at $4,500, is being offered at a special price of $3,700 for orders booked at the show, De Beers said.
