Application Scope of Super Abrasive Grinding Wheels

Super abrasive grinding wheels include diamond grinding wheel and cubic boron nitride grinding wheel. They can be used in non-metal materials, all kinds of high hardness and high brittleness metal materials, such as gems, glass, ceramic, semiconductor materials, ingredients, hard alloy, heat-resisting alloy steel, copper and aluminum and other non-ferrous metals and their alloys, and so on.

In addition to the above common characteristics and application scope, the grinding of diamond grinding wheel and cubic boron nitride grinding wheel both have respective characteristics and application scope. Diamond grinding wheel has a strong ability of grinding, high grinding efficiency and some advantages such as non-metallic hard brittle material, hard alloy, non-ferrous metal processing. Due to the emergence of synthetic diamond and mature process, the price is cheaper, so the applications  more widely. For example, the thermal stability of diamond can only reach 700 to 800 degrees Celsius but cubic boron nitride can reach 1250 to 1350 degrees Celsius, And it is not easy to react with ron to cause chemical reaction and affinity, and has higher wear resistance when processing steel metal. Although the current application of cubic boron nitride abrasive is second to diamond abrasive, and the price is also more expensive, but they are still very promising abrasives products.

In order to enlarge the grinding application scope of diamond grinding wheel, researchers are making a study about diamond grinding wheel used for grinding steels and metals. For example, this kind of grinding in a protective atmosphere and the grinding under low temperature have not applied to industrial production.
