Abrasives Types

Converntional natural abrasives are widely used in ancient times, however, they are raraly used now because of its low hardness, uneveness, and high impurity which hinder its grinding performance. Nowadays, synthetic abrasives are mainly applied in mordern industry.

Natural diamond, is a kind of rare mineral. Diamonds of gem grade are so glittering and translucent for their unique gloss that Chinese have began to use them as beautiful ornaments since ancient times. While it has now become a new treasure of modern industry and scientific technology owing to the discovery of diamond's special properties and its use value. In 1954 the first synthetic diamond came on the scene, and later in 1957 boron nitride was developed successfully, which indicated the rapid development of superhard abrasives.
