On the morning of 11, June 2015, Carl Doeksen, Asia-Pacific regional business manager of 3M Abrasive, together with Brian Huang, general manager of 3M Abrasive Systems Division, Andy Zhou, specialist Abrasive Division of 3M China R&D Center, and Jevons Bai, Sr. Account Manager visited iAbrasive Network Technology Co., Ltd. to know more about the B2B e-commerce platform and discussed the combination of the abrasives industry and the Internet with Shi Lei, general manger of iAbrasive.

Representatives from 3M Abrasive showed a keen interest in iAbrasive. During the conversation that lasted nearly two hours, Carl and Brian inquired about the positioning, profit model, developing strategy, and periodical objectives of iAbrasive, to which Shi explained in detail and emphasized, "the information basis of China's abrasives industry remains weak, therefore large amount of work needs to be done. Currently, what iAbrasive can do is to consolidate the basis jointly with abrasive suppliers by making the best of each supplier's advantage and meeting their demand in perspective of application. However, iAbrasive remains a period of investment and accumulation, so there is still a long way to go. iAbrasive has been committed to making abrasives trade easier. Similar to other industries, the abrasives industry will integrate smoothly into the Internet, and users can get what they need." 3M Abrasive leaders expressed their approval over the periodical achievements of iAbrasive and pointed out that the overall plan is a huge project, which will make a difference within the abrasives industry.

The two sides also analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of comprehensive e-commerce platforms and vertical ones; whether e-commerce platforms and distributors in China and foreign countries are suitable for China's Internet market. It is mutually believed that the wide category and application fields of abrasives products make them suitable for Internet reform, and all that matters is time.

At the end of the conversation, 3M representatives also shared their own objectives, emerging trends of the industry, such as abrasives robot replacing workers, with iAbrasive. Both sides expressed their sincere hope that they should keep in touch and that further cooperation can be made in 3M's future development in China.
