1. China's Superhard Material Capacity Ranks at forefront

In 2014, China's new material industry has seen an ever expanding scale, with the capacity of rare earth functional material, energy storage material, photovoltaic material, organic silicon, superhard materials, special stainless steel, glass fiber, and its composite material ranks at forefront of the world.

2. The 1st Graphene Production Line Goes into Operation

On Feb. 26, 2014, the world's 1st kiloton graphene production line went into operation in Dongguan. According to relevant information, so far, single-layer graphene production technique is confined to lab. The kiloton graphene production line is scheduled to generate few-layer graphene, whose thickness on average is below 2 nanometers, and its electric conductivity ranks the top among world's mass production.

3. Graphene can be used to Produce Diamond

According to overseas media report on Apr. 8, 2014, the latest research from Stanford University have proved that graphene can be used to produce diamond. Graphene is a kind of pure carbon material that's just one atom thick and nearly transparent when laid out in sheets, manages to be roughly 200 times stronger than steel, even though it's 60,000 times thinner than Saran Wrap. It can be regarded as a kind of two-dimensional diamond since both have the same structure and components, the only difference being that diamond is three-dimensional crystal.

According to the Xinhua News Agency on June 18, 2014, Chinese scientists succeeded in synthesis of a new material whose hardness is twice the diamond. Pro. Tian, along with his research team, cooperated with Pro. Wang from University of Chicago to produce nano twin structure diamond materials.

On May. 20, 2014, United States International Trade Committee (USITC) issued a report, stating that if anti-dumping measures are eliminated, diamond saw blades made in China may continue doing practical harm to the U.S. domestic industry.

On Oct. 27, 2014, the Raw Material Committee of China Coated Abrasives Association was established. Shi Tieshuan, chairman of the board of Yichuan Dongfeng Abrasives Co., Ltd., was nominated as chairman of committee.

9. Abrasives Products Formula Procedure was Born

On July 11, 2014, Ceramic Resin Bonded Abrasives Products Formula Procedure Promotion Fair was held in Zhengzhou. Participants of the fair spoke highly of the practical applicability of the formula. It is helpful in abrasives manufacture automation.

10. Diamond Wire Saw

The National Standard for Diamond Wire Saw was approved and carried out on Oct. 1, 2014. Experts say that the standard improved the entire system of super abrasives products field. Meanwhile, the implement of the standard will surely improve China's diamond wire saw quality and technological level.
