Semi-Friable Fused Alumina
1. Application
It has the feature of sharpness close to white aluminum oxide and toughness close to brown aluminum oxide; this leads to abrasive tools made of it both sharp and durable, widely working on heat-sensitive steel, alloy, non-ferrous metal, etc.
2. Characteristics
It is produced in electric arc furnace by controlling fusion process exactly and solidification slowly. The decreased TiO2 content and increased Al2O3 content provide the grains with medium toughness and hardness between white aluminum oxide and brown aluminum oxide, this is why it is called semi-friable aluminum oxide. It has excellent self-sharpening property, which brings grind tools made of it with high removal rate and long service life.
