this kind of grinding wheel are used in  disc surface grinding machines. Disk surface grinding machines can be equipped with various types of grinding wheels. Grinding wheels can be made of Aluminiumoxide Al2O3, Silicon Carbide SiC, cubic Boron Nitride cBN od Diamond. cBN and diamond grinding wheels are very hard and can be used for high precision grinding of hard materials. Lifetime of these grinding wheels is very high. The bonding of the abrasive is done either vitrified, resin or ceramic. Grinding wheels are characterized by dimension, grit size and bond grade. Reshaping of the grinding wheels is done by d ressing and truing.

Abrasive Features

Diamond

CBN

Due to its extreme hardness, Diamond is

particularly suitable for machining the following

materials:

– All carbide metal grades

– Cermet

– Oxide and non-oxide ceramics

– PCD / PCB

– Hard facing alloys

– Sapphire, glass

– Ferrite

– Graphite

– Fiber reinforced synthetics

– Precious and semi-precious stones

CBN consists of the elements boron and nitrogen. In contrast to Diamond, CBN has no carbon atoms, making it suitable for machining steel. CBN is better suited for machining the following materials:

– Hardened steel over approx. 54 HRc hardness

– High-speed steel (HSS)

– Stellite

– Nickel-based special alloys

Performance

Application

Resin Bond (B)

-Good elasticity

-Good polishing function

resin bond diamond tools are widely used in half-fine or fine grinding for carbide cutting-tools or workpieces.

Resin bond CBN tools are mainly used for the cutting edge’s grinding of high-vanadium HSS cutting tools, and half-fine or fine grinding for workpieces of tool steel, mold steel, stainless steel and heat-resisting steel.

Vitrified Bond (V)

-Higher toughness

-Good heat-resisting performance

normally used in:

coarse or half-fine grinding,

profile grinding with broad contact area,

grinding for superabrasive sinter

Metal Bond

-good rigidity

-high toughness

-good wear resistance and long service life

-good shape-keeping perfor mance and can withstand larger workload

mainly used in cutting and coarse or fine grinding for non-metal materials, such as glass, ceramic, stone, concrete, semiconductor materials and super-hard materials, and a few of them are used in the coarse grinding for carbide alloy, profile grinding and honing
