Our Company

In January 1966 Michael Clauberg started his grinding wheel production in Wuppertal-Cronenberg.
The family Clauberg was familar with the branch since 1946 as dealer of raw material for the grinding wheel industry.
Their forefathers were active as self-employed grinders in Solingen.

In 1990 Michael Clauberg integrated the S. Lauterjung Kunstschleifsteinfabrik, which operated in Solingen since the year 1840.

Since 1997 Lars Clauberg is in possession of the 1896 in Solingen established Carl Lauterjung Schleifmittelfabrik GmbH which produced from the beginning - over 100 years ago - artificial grinding tools in resin bonding rather in ceramic bonding.

In 2006 Lars Clauberg additionally took over the Kunstschleifsteinfabrik Ernst F. Tesche which was established in 1801 in Wuppertal. Both companies now are united as Lauterjung & Tesche Schleifmittelfabrik GmbH
In 2009 he also took over the grinding wheel manufacturing of Friedrich August Picard GmbH & Co. KG from Remscheid.

The continuously expanding companies needed larger production and storage areas.
There were no suitable areas in Wuppertal-Cronenberg.
A suitable industrial surface of 6000 m² was found in Wuppertal Sonnborn.

Now in Wuppertal Sonnborn the oldest companies of the grinding industry are united.
The companies S. Lauterjung Kunstschleifsteinfabrik and Kunstschleifsteinfabrik Ernst F. Tesche possessed own stone quarries in the Eifel (area in west germany) and manufactured the traditional sand grinding wheels up to 3 meters diameter and 45 cm broadness.
Grinding with sandstones was adjusted in the mid of the 20th century. They exchanged the sandstones with artificial bonded grinding wheels.
Obligated to tradition, in Wuppertal-Sonnborn a modern centre for the manufacturing of abrasives has engaged.

The companies operate world wide. They produce abrasives in resin-, ceramic- and magnesite bonding. Following items belong to the product range: grinding wheels, segments, cup wheels, cylinders and sharpenin
