Meguro Factory (Meguro, Tokyo) at start
of full-scale operations (in 1932)
Dec 1913
Kagoshima Electric Railway Co., Ltd. started to manufacture artificial abrasives for the first time in Japan.
Jun 1917
Mitsui Mining Co., Ltd. succeeded the business of the abrasives department.
Jun 1927
Meguro Laboratory (Tokyo) of Mitsui Mining Co., Ltd. started manufacturing grinding wheels.
Aug 1933
New grinding wheel manufacturing plant constructed on the premises of the Meguro Laboratory.
Regular operation started.
May 1950
Following dissolution of the zaibatsu, company name changed to Kamioka Mining Co., Ltd.
Dec 1952
Company name changed to Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co., Ltd.
The plant became Meguro Grinding Wheel Plant of the company.
May 1963
Technical tie-up for gear honing grinding wheels agreed with National Broach of USA.
Nov 1968
Due to lack of space at Meguro Plant, relocation to Musashi Industrial Park in Iruma-shi, Saitama started.
Jun 1973
Removal of plant completed, creating the newest & most
powerful plant in the industry.
Mar 1974
Spun off from Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co., Ltd. to become an independent company.
Mitsui Grinding Wheel Co., Ltd. established.
Apr 1976
CBN Wheels and Diamond Wheels began to be marketed.
Mar 1990
Technology transfer contract signed with Dongil Co., Ltd. of Korea.
Apr 1990
Diamond pellet business transferred from Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co., Ltd. and operation started.
Nov 1994
Mitsui Grinding Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd. established.
May 2001
ISO 9001 certification acquired.
Dec 2004
