Introduction:
Abrasive discs consist of abrasive grain adhered onto the surface of a cloth, film, paper, non-woven or other backing. Abrasive discs are used for surface finishing, sanding, grinding, etc. Abrasive discs typically have round shape, although specialized flower petal shapes are used for ophthalmic applications.
A sanding belt power sands industrial surfaces. Users can find the abrasive belts you need in grits for grinding or micro-finishing at each stage of your project. Contour or refinish wood, fiberglass, metal and more by choosing the best abrasive belt for the job, including many abrasive types and belt options that resist overheating, slipping and tearing under heavy use.
Application:
They are generally used in fabrication industry for weld removal, Sheet metal industry and wood working industry.
Characteristics:
1. Long life
2. Wide selection of grits and grains
3. Easy to use
4. Availabel diameters from 25mm to 100mm or according to your choice
5. Available grit sizes from grit 24 to grit 1000.
6. Available grain: Ceramic, Aluminium oxide, Silicon carbide, Zirconia.
Advantage of coated Abrasives over Bonded Abrasives:
1. Faster cutting rate due to sharper cutting edges.
2. Cooler cutting due to longer belt periphery as compared to grinding wheel.
3. Better finishes.
4. Reduced down time hence one machine can be used efficiently for different grit sizes.
5. Very good for contour grinding by using slack portion of the belt.
6. Most accurate for flat grinding by using platen grinder.
