The polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) is composed of a polycrystalline diamond layer and a tungsten carbide substrate. The polycrystalline diamond layer possesses extremely high hardness and abrasion resistance, whereas the tungsten carbide substrate would greatly improve the toughness and weldability of the whole compact.

 

FEATURES

1. Tungsten carbide substrate 

With dentate structure of tungsten carbide substrate, increase diamond binding surface, and improve the bond strength between tungsten carbide and diamond layer, thereby the probability of delamination of diamond and tungsten carbide is low.

 

The thermal expansion coefficient of carbide and diamond are not the same and carbide’ thermal expansion coefficient is about two times than diamond’s, and the dentate structure of tungsten carbide substrate has dispersed thermal expansion in multiple directions, reducing the thermal stress of PDC cutters, thereby reducing the probability of delamination. In addition the thermal stability of PDC cutters is greatly improved, and heat resistance is up to above 800 degree.

 

 

2. Diamond powder

 By using sharp and long diamond with self-sharpening, this type PDC cutters are razor sharp and faster footage rate, and the abrasion resistance is doubled than common diamond cutters; the cross combination of diamond layer makes diamond D-D key more firm, such diamond combination can effectively disperse the impact force, so that the diamond interlayer will not drop under strong impact force.

 

 

3. In today's challenging drilling environments, resistance to thermal degradation is critically important.
