monocrystalline has the most thermal stability, its hardness is just second to diamond. The

 synthetic CBN crystal is converted from hBN under extremely high pressure (6 G Pa -7 G Pa) and temperature 

(1400 ℃~1500℃). Not like diamond, CBN do not react with iron and nickel (steel and superalloy). The combination 

of thermal and chemical stability and hardness make CBN the most desirable superabrasive crystal for grinding 

ferrous alloys and superalloy materials.

The high purity monocrystalline CBN crystal is colorless and transparent. However, most synthetic CBN crystals for 

industrial applications have different colors dependent on the growth environment . During crystal growth process, if 

crystal contains the amount of element N outweighing element B, the crystal appears yellow color; and if the amount 

of element B outweighs element N, the color turns into black. The crystals with gold, amber, brown colors are in 

between those two conditions and also depends on growth conditions.
