Finish turning hardened steel with PCBN insert with small working allowance and excellent wear resistance
When use ISO CNC Lathe machining,PCBN insert can satisfy all the requirements to reach the standard of the grinding process. And PCBN insert also can be used for finish interrupted turning the end surface we can choose the pcbn insert with high content only if the cutting speed are suitable and the rigidity are very well. When finish turning, the working allowance need be about 0.3mm,and the average working allowance can improve the lifetime of the PCBN insert.And finish turning process will don’t need cutting liquid ,large cutting heat will be taken away by the chips ,it will not damage the work piece surface .And the insert can choose CNGN insert with large toughness and strength ,the radius of the insert tip will be between 0.4~1.2mm.Even the larger the radius of the insert tip,the lower of the roughness, but the increasing of the cutting force will lead to the shockness. So we need to choose the most suitable tips depending on the practical producing condition.
PCBN insert are a kind cutting tools with good potential. It has good cutting performance ,and required high on the using condition ,so only choose the most suitable PCBN insert and insert grade with the suitable cutting parameters, we can reduce the processing cost ,and obtain the benefit.
In machinist industry ,more and more hardened steel appear in the processing site, they need finishing process to make sure the precision of the work piece. But the hardness of the hardened steel usually are above HRC45,and it is difficult to machine, traditional method are grinding ,but the working efficiency are low for mass machining .So in current times ,we usually use “turning instead of grinding process” to improve the working efficiency. We need choose the suitable insert grade to improve the processing efficiency and save the cost. Depending on the process condition and the performance of the hardened steel ,Halnn researched CBN insert grade BN-H10,BN-H20,BN-S20 with high efficiency ,high quality. The working efficiency are more than 10 times than carbide insert and ceramic insert .
BN-H20 belongs to interrupted turning condition cbn insert ,some hardened steel surface has oil hole and inner hole has keyway ,thus condition belongs to interrupted turning ,we can choose Bn-H20 cbn insert ,and it will not appear chipping phenomenon ,and improved the working efficiency.
