The Italian developed these bonds for mirror finish of granites, marbles and other stones. In earlier day’s granites and marbles industries in India started properly in eight decades of twentieth century. India was totally dependent on Italian machinery and abrasives during 1970’s. Use of this concept at domestic level was not thought of till 1991-92 as a Frankfurt type floor grinding machine and abrasives were not developed by anybody in India. The heavy noisy machine with six triangular vitrified bonded were used. That system was in practice for many years which consumed heavy electrical power with low productivity and poor final finish of floors. It was tedious process but poor final finish of floors. It was tedious process but there was no option available for long. In 1991-92 we designed and developed Frankfurt floor polishing machine and suitable abrasive for rough grinding i.e. 16 mesh to fine mirror like polishing i.e. 1200 mesh and final shellack bond mirror polishing chemical abrasive. Since then the power consumption reduced with high productivity and much better final finish of stones and floors is being achieved.
It took long way in completing R&D work by us in developing full fledge technology of floor polishing. R&D commenced in 1991, fully took shaped by 1995-96 and a revolution took place in stone industry and floor polishing methods. The rough grinding of Kota stone at industries were totally replaced by new Frankfurt abrasives system. Earlier Kota stone polishing was done by placing Kota stone on floor and reverse stones over it. The rotation of upper layer on lower layer using stone dust (Bazri) in between and spray of water was in practice. There was huge consumption of electricity say 10 hp with merely 250 sq.ft of production in 24 hours. By replacing with Frankfurt abrasives and machine concept introduced by us brought big change in whole industrial scenario. The 5 hp were producing 250 sq.ft. In 8 hours. We can say with half the electrical energy consumption, three times productivity was achieved and today every where this system is being used. The whole construction business is being benefited even now. Similarly total domestic floor grinding concept is using Frankfurt floor polishing system with higher effectiveness and efficiency. Also many people copied the concept and stolen the technology by some or other means. However, people were benefitted and are today also using same technology.
