According to recently published IndexBox research «World: Abrasives (Natural) - Market Report. Analysis And Forecast To 2020» , the global natural abrasives trade amounted to 280 million USD in 2015, falling from 331 million USD in 2014. However, the previous gains allowed keeping the overall growth positive, with a CAGR of +5.2% from 2007 to 2015. 

India and Australia were the main global suppliers of natural abrasives in 2015, with a combined share of 56% of global exports. Export from these countries grew at rapid paces of +8.4% per year and +9.4% per year, respectively, from 2007 to 2015. These countries significantly strengthened their positions in the global exports structure, while the shares of the other countries reduced.

In 2015, India exported approx. 94 million USD of natural abrasives, which was 10% under the previous year. The primary market for Indian natural abrasives was the U.S., comprising near 20% of Indian exports.

In 2015, the U.S. (27%), UAE (7%), Saudi Arabia (5%), China (4%) and Korea (4%) were the leading destinations of natural abrasives imports, together making up 47% of global imports. The share of the U.S. increased significantly (+13 percentage points), while the shares of the other countries were relatively stable.
